The next post

A question about the text that I want to know is how come there isn’t much cussing? Normally, people of a lower class have a foul language and people of the much higher class will have them too. They say that it is a lack of knowledge or vocabulary and that is why people will cuss. If District 12 is so poor then you would assume that they wouldn’t have very good schooling program and wouldn’t be very knowledgeable. The higher classes also seem to have foul mouths. I do not really know why that is. My guess would be that they feel like they have power or are putting someone down by using it. Either way there are poor people and rich people in this book and I am just curious why there isn’t any cussing. I also would like to know if it really benefits with all the detail in the book. I love the detail because it makes you really feel like you are there but there really isn’t that much going on and the train ride to the capitol takes forever. Is it supposed to be that way so that it makes you feel like you’re on the train I’m guessing or is it drug on way to much? I haven’t read too much so I don’t really know if this is more off a good thing or if later I’ll think that this book just elaborates way too much. Those are some questions about the text that I would like to know!

  1. You better get reading, Kaleb. You only have two weeks to finish.

I think the lack of cussing could either be 1). the author's interpretation of the future, or 2). because the book can be appropriate for middle school readers as well as adults. That would be my guess. When you read it, go ahead and curse all you want in your head! :)
